Big Timber Fly Fishing was Founded in 1986 by professional guide and outfitter Channing Welin.
Chan has been chasing wild trout on the Yellowstone and Boulder Rivers since the mid 60's and continues to guide fishermen while being a full time Boulder Valley resident. His first drift boat was a Keith Steel boat that came off of the Deshute River in Oregon.
During Chan's many years of fishing the Big Timber area, he has unlocked the secrets to these pristine and under fished waters. Chan truly lives the lifestyle of a guide. He can provide insight into the flora and fauna of the area while on a walk/wade trip on the Boulder or a Yellowstone River float in his drift boat.
In January of 2009, Chan sold BTFF to his neighbor/guide, George Anderson. Chan continues to act as the outfitter for BTFF and can often be seen leading fishing expeditions on the Boulder and Yellowstone Rivers.

George and his family live within a stones throw from the underfished Boulder River. George's wife Cindy and sons Colter (3) and Bridger (-2 years) can be often seen playing along the banks of the Boulder River and most recently helping Dad real in fish!
George (pictured with wife Cindy), a Montana Native, grew up fishing the Sun and Teton Rivers near Choteau, MT. George started fishing at a young age, catching his first fish at 4 and his first on a fly a few years later. George a perpetual outdoorsman looks forward to sharing his passion for the outdoors with folks. He is eager to provided walk/wade and rafting trips on both the Yellowstone and Boulder Rivers as well as fly casting instruction for individuals or small groups.
Big Timber Fly Fishing also partners with guide George Anderson Jr (the owner's father) and other outfitters for larger groups.
